Boiler and Pressure Vessel Program Overview

The Boiler & Pressure Vessel Program oversees the installation and maintenance of boilers, pressure vessels, and pressure piping to ensure public safety. Permits are required for boilers and pressure vessels and safety inspections are conducted by state inspectors or insurance company inspectors.

Boilers, pressure vessels, and pressure piping require permits for installation, alteration and repair. Permits are obtained through the Building Codes Salem office and work is inspected by state and insurance company inspectors.

Boilers and pressure vessels require operating permits which are renewed periodically. Safety inspections by state and insurance company inspectors are performed periodically. You can access the request to purchase permits form on our website.

Codes and safety standards for boilers, pressure vessels, and pressure piping are found under Boiler statutes and rules.

If you have questions about the program contact Mike Graham at 503-373-7499 or Mike.D.Graham@state.or.us.
