| What
is a site-specific interpretation? |
| A site-specific interpretation determines
how code provisions apply to the specific facts and circumstances
of one particular location. |
| |
|
Who may ask for a site-specific
interpretation?
|
| Only a building official may request
a site-specific interpretation. This interpretation process is designed
to help local building officials make difficult code interpretations. |
| |
|
Do site-specific interpretations
replace local interpretations?
|
|
No. A site-specific interpretation
is an opportunity for a building official performing a local interpretation
to get state assistance and advice.
|
| |
|
How does a building
official ask for a site-specific interpretation?
|
|
A site specific interpretation must
be requested in writing, preferably on the appropriate division
form. The request should contain:
- The street address of the building
site
- A description of the need for a
site-specific interpretation
- The specialty code provisions that
may apply
Once a request has been received by
the division, the program chief will work with the building official
to develop the interpretation. An interpretation is usually completed
within 30 days.
