Special Equipment Installation

1. Q. Article 695-7 requires the voltage drop be taken into consideration on fire pumps. Can the inspector require the installer to produce voltage drop calculations?

A. Yes.
(April 2001 BCD Code Forum) 2. Q. Where does the code list the requirements for GTO Cable?

A. The letters GTO stand for "Gas Tube and Oil". Section 600-32 (e) of the NEC allows no spacing between type GTO cable and conduit. Sections 600-31 (b) and 600-32 (b) require the secondary conductors of neon systems to be listed, suitable for the purpose and not smaller than #18 gauge. Conductors on neon systems over 1,000 volts must have a minimum temperature rating of 105 degrees Celsius.
