Receptacles

1. Q. Is a receptacle within 36" from the edge of a bathroom basin acceptable even though it is below the edge? An example would be a pedestal basin in a powder room.

A. Yes. See 210.52(d)

2. Q. May someone install duplex receptacles in spaces dedicated for two appliances in a garage or basement , even if the appliances are not in place at final inspection? ?

A. Yes. The panel suggests marking the receptacle. (Tri-County Code Forum, November 7, 2002-Approved by the state code chief for statewide application) See 210.52(g), 210.8(A)(2)

3. Q. May a single receptacle for a dedicated space be installed for a new house when at final inspection the appliance is not in place and the house may still be for sale?

A. Yes, except for washing machines in bathrooms. (Tri-County Code Forum, November 7, 2002-Approved by the state code chief for statewide application)

4. Q. Dedicated furnace 20-amp 120-volt circuit: Can the condensate pump (furnace/ac) be tapped to the furnace circuit for single-outlet receptacles?
