Product Certification

1. Q. How do we determine compliance with 99 NEC 110-2 and 110-3 in the absence of listing and/or labeling?
Background: A large piece of industrial equipment, manufactured overseas, is installed by an electrical contractor in a local industrial plant. This equipment has not been evaluated by UL, CSA, or any other recognized testing organizations. It was installed and placed in service without an electrical permit or inspections. It has now been in service for more than one year.

A. A compliance case should be initiated where an electrical permit had not been obtained. To qualify for this exemption, the industrial product not only has to be in service for a year, ORS 479.540 (12) also states it has to be for sale.
